Q:
How can I meet regulations for protecting and managing network access?
A:
Avaya can provide protection against unauthorized access to a corporation's computing systems that share a LAN with communication systems. Our Secure Access and Control service helps you comply with legislative mandates, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Graham-Leach-Bliley, HIPAA, FERPA, the Patriot Act, and SB 1386. Also, Secure Access and Control helps you comply with specifications from the W-S Federation and the Liberty Alliance.

How does it work? We use secure IP-VPN or Frame Relay connectivity and a secure alarm concentration appliance located behind your firewall to reduce the potential for unauthorized access to your network elements. This continuous-connection tunnel provides a single point for inbound and outbound access to your converged network and supports monitoring of up to 500 devices.

How can I meet regulations for protecting and managing network access?

With Secure Access and Control, you get centralized authentication, authorization, and accounting that’s key to meeting corporate and federal security requirements. Access permission is managed through a secure single sign on to Avaya online applications.

You provide a continuous connection to Avaya via an IP VPN Tunnel or AT&T Frame Relay facility. This eliminates the need for modems, which historically have offered a back door to hackers. The tunnel approach helps increase your network’s security, reliability and response time, as inbound and outbound transmissions from your systems go to Avaya EXPERT SystemsSM Diagnostic Tools for real-time monitoring and immediate trouble resolution.

Secure Access and Control uses your NTP Server for the timestamp within audit logs, which increases the integrity of audit log data. Avaya can export audit logs to your SysLog Server. This is an additional measure that increases the integrity of your audit logs.

You have full control and authority over who can access your systems. You can disconnect real time connections as well as program restrictions based on-time of day. And, you can terminate connections to your network.

Avaya uses the Secure Services Delivery Platform to provide the technicians ID and trouble ticketing information to the Secure Access and Control audit logs, which eliminates the need for you to administer thousands of hard token IDs for access and audit tracking.

Secure Access and Control can support dual VPN Tunnels between your company and the Avaya Regional Technical Center. This redundancy increases reliability. Also, you can choose to have redundant Secure Services Gateways at two different locations.

Our Secure Access and Control service is an add-on for Avaya maintenance services. You’ll receive Avaya maintenance—including proactive remote diagnostics and alarm resolution—while significantly reducing your exposure to security threats.
